We took our "baby" girl in this afternoon....her breathing was labored and we thought allergies, but after a few weeks, wanted to rule out anything sinister. It was not to be. Her lung sac was fluid filled with 90% odds due to cancer. Any other possible causes would have had band-aid treatments and loss of quality of life. She had a good life and it is beyond sad to have lost 2 cats within several months of each other (brother-sister) but sadly, we don't get to pick in life.

I am so sorry. Our furbabies are so incredible and there is never enough time with them. Thank you for the love, care and compassion you bring to the furry ones blessed to share your life.

I'm so sorry to hear this, Wallycat. We had to say goodbye to our Golden Retriever last summer, and we miss her every day. Hugs to you and your family.

Thank you all for your kind and gentle, sensitive posts. I know it will get easier but with two gone so close together...and so young. ...I can't stop crying.

Wallycat, I'm so sorry to see both of your posts and sorry for your losses. I know your cats were well loved friends and it hurts to lose them at all, much less so close together. Both times I have had two cats, I lost them just a few months apart. It was heartbreaking and now I am bracing myself with 12 and 8 yr old dogs. Meanwhile, my youngest son is now sharing an apartment with 2 girls and 3 cats while they are all student teaching this semester. Kind of like having temporary grand-kitties.
Hope time has given you peace and warm memories. Any new kitties?

Beth, Stripey's one year-death anniversary is coming up. I wish I could say I am doing better, but I still find myself crying...maybe it is the warm memories that bring on the tears. Thank you, Beth. We still have the feral that joined us in WI. He will be 11 this year. I dread anything happening to him but I know after 7, cats are considered seniors, even though Wally (my BB-name-sake) lived to 22-23 years old. I had such hopes for this brood. The other 3 brothers, living in Missouri with our former neighbor, are all doing well. Sigh.
I don't think I will ever get another pet. Ever. The heart ache is just unreal.
Enjoy your grand-kitties!

I didn't think I could ever want another cat after we lost the last two. We went through some high maintenance times with one as a late senior and the other always. I think it was at least two years before I started thinking about having a cat again. Still haven't, but I no longer say never. I can't imagine you without cats, but you will know what is right. Sorry if I brought back tears. Wishing you peace and love in 2018.

Beth, you are sweet. I have never stopped crying, so don't feel badly, not specific to your bringing up the topic.
