How many others? Cookiee's name isn't even on the member list anymore.

Correct. The log shows that, over a period of a few days, Cookieee removed all 330+ of her posts. (Cookieee used to quit and return and/or threaten to - for various reasons, back at the Cooking Light forum, as most of us know.) Bev and I had no advance notice re Cookieee. After she removed her posts, I removed her name from the member list. How many others? You mean Leahamm? She is a member and I've not heard from her. She is free to come and go. I hope she will always be with us. I know of no problems about her. Could be she decided this isn't a place she wants to be?? I dunno. I don't know about others. I've seen no problems with anybody. Mostly, I think, we are a pretty happy bunch.

I wonder why she did that? She can just come and go without deleting anything. Most times I don't even notice who posted something, unless I am quoting or responding to the person.
I haven't checked, but are the threads she started still here, or how does that work?
Catbatty, I agree - I haven't seen any problems here, but I don't read every thread or look for problems.

I haven't checked, but are the threads she started still here, or how does that work? They are still there. I went to the cooking game to check. On the thread I checked, it now looks like I am talking to myself about random things. LOL.

So, since you removed her name from the member list does that mean she can't return? I'm a little confused.

She will not be returning. Taking down all her posts did a number on our threads. It was not nice to do to the group, whatever her reasons might have been.

No clue here. I can't even figure out where my good buddy went...TNgal. She posted 3 recipes and poof. (She's always been a bit of a shy one. I hate to go bug her...but I might just. We've been friends forever. It's always some cruise she's going on...or some church event she's involved with. Last thing was Europe. I thought she'd settled back in for the winter...but guess not. She's a baker and I know you guys will love hearing from her often.) I figure that our longtime CLBB friends will eventually stumble in here. Time...it's just a matter of... [Edited to add: I really don't want to bug people if they chose to come and go. I know *I* used to do that lots back in the CLBB days. I like to live free! Nobody has to feel that they MUST post, etc. Being here is optional and personal to each person. ]

I think that we each have certain expectations when we join online communities. Perhaps she was trying to rouse a certain level of enthusiasm which wasn't forthcoming, or she was hoping that the atmosphere and usership from CL would be carried over here. Perhaps her friends never signed up here and she feels alone. I can only guess, since I come from the earlier years of the CLBB and I'd pretty much stopped posting there by the time Cookieee came aboard.

I am Pat (one T only) from Houston, TX. I think the other Patt (two T's) was from Dallas/Ft. Worth or Austin area and I miss her too. I think this board is great and truly appreciate the hard work it took by several folks to get us here after the CL folks announced they were bailing on us with very short notice. Cookieee was extremely sensitive and pretty critical of many on this board for not participating at the level she expected. Over the years I have absented myself for long periods of time because of her complaints when I didn't play a game or post in as many threads as she wanted or in the way she wanted. I hope this board will continue to be welcoming and non-judgmental of all participants whether they lurk, post occasionally or go all-in on everything. We all have our lives with their demands and challenges of work, family and health. I consider the time each member spends here a gift from that member and appreciate their offering.

Bev is very sick with a cold or I'd ask her to look at our logs and see if Patt or Valerie were EVER members here. I know that Riverfarm is a member. For some reason, I have a memory of MAYBE Patt saying something about joining someday or something. I've taken no time to go find all the past stuff...since before we even began this place...but I could go look see. I know some folks said they weren't going to be joining...and some said 'someday.' And it could be that this place isn't what some people expected and they didn't sign up. Maybe they lurk without being a member? I have always planned to go find my past history with Sneezles and get in touch with her again. I think she left CLBB for reasons that I can't go into, but might be happy to join us nowadays. I wish we could get everybody from the old crowd here (and a bunch of new neato people, too). I met a guy who works at Amazon yesterday and he became very excited about joining us. MOSES, where ARE YOU???) but he hasn't signed up. Drat. We hit it off like mother and son. It was love at first sight. Anyway, thanks for the lovely words and thoughts folks. They mean a lot to both Bev and I. We are so happy that we could all (or many of 'all') get together again here. It is such a joy to me personally that we didn't just go poof. It's a huge extended family for many of us. It's family. And we welcome new members to our tables, too. Such joy. Happy New Year to all!!

Those are very wise words Pat! Yesterday I was telling DH - again - how catbatty and Bev created this new home for sharing food and non-food information. What an accomplishment. "Blood, sweat and tears" to quote Churchill. And I'm so grateful If I don't have time to post I lurk for a minute or two almost every day. Wishing everybody a Happy New Year!

As sad as I am to see anyone go, I think you did the right thing. I don't even know how to remove a post (never considered looking) but the fact that she actually took all that the time to do this, just baffles me. She's probably lurking as a guest or will resurrect as a new name in the future. I too appreciate all the trouble that it took to create this site and have it working as smoothly as it is.

Gail, That would be great. There's a bounty on their heads, isn't there? I think it's something like $10,000 per runaway if brought in alive. GO FOR IT!! LOL <too bad I don't have any money, so I don't know where that money will come from...>

We all have our lives with their demands and challenges of work, family and health. I consider the time each member spends here a gift from that member and appreciate their offering. Agree 100%. For example, Hammster was here for a short while (under a different name), then left; I was happy to "see" him online again (remember the CLBB turkey sagas??) and sad to see him go. People pop in and out, depending on their interests & their real lives; I just appreciate the camaraderie here where I can ask foodie questions of people who actually cook. Hope he & other active CLBBers (back from the good ol' days, not so much when CLBB was plummeting downhill) return. I guess I'm not here often enough (lurked a lot thru the holidays; just BUSY) to have noticed yet that Cookieee was gone. Guess I need to log in more often! It would take a long time to delete all of one's posts; wonder what would motivate one to do so. I think I'd rather go bake something. (Got two new cookbooks for Xmas!)

Bev and I both want to say THANK YOU to members here. You have impressed the heck out of us. And thanks for the words of support.
As managers of the forum, we feel responsible to members to not have public or private discussions about members with other members, it's something we don't want to encourage. However, in the case of removal of posts, we thought that situation might be an exception because the resulting threads would make everybody feel a little drunk or dizzy--seeing conversations that seem out of sync--and also noticing that one of our very active members is suddenly not here.
Bev and I think it's time to stop further discussion about it. We've said pretty much all there is to say, or that we can say. I hope you all are at peace with that. (And you can always contact us privately if you are concerned about anything.) Thanks for everything. You are very, very appreciated.
