Holiday Gift -- What do YOU want?
(And we all know we want world peace and warmth, love, health and safety for all those in need. But this time, I'm talking material something for yourself!!) YOU!! What is on your own personal, your-yourself, wish list?? And, if nobody will be getting it for you that's ok, too, or maybe it's something you might buy yourself or simply LUST AFTER -- WHAT IS IT??? AND if you want for NOTHING...maybe one of us can inspire some want or excitement in your heart for your very own self. So...if we could have something MATERIAL, what would it be? (Small is good. Big is good. The heart can want what the heart can want.) Go for it! What? Whatcha want?? Could it be RECIPES??? Cookbooks?? Software?? Kitchenware?? Food Goodies?? A NEW CAR?? A ring?? A new dress? A sewing machine?? A potter's wheel?? An easel?? A pet?? Dinner out?? FURNITURE?? Perfume?? What wonderful thing would you love to receive for your special holiday gift?

I want to replace my old, old bathrobes. The company, Rough Linen makes bedding and a bathrobe. I want it all $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ but would be happy with a bathrobe. Flannel is by oz and from googling, German cloth is 6 oz and rated as "the best" for flannel. I want a flannel robe, 6 oz...or german material. And why am I the only guilty party listing my wish-list??! Karen, my sister, in WI, is sending me pix of the 13" + they are getting...and -30 wind chills. I'm homesick!!

I'm in Southern NH. I think Mother Nature hates us. 6 inches of snow yesterday. That's no big deal here. But now it is pouring and 40 degrees. When the temp drops tonight and tomorrow, it is bound to be a huge mess.

I'm not into jewelry, my car is a few years old, and there isn't anything I really want that I can't buy for myself that won't bankrupt us. However, the one thing I really want, and make it known to DH and family is that I want to live in Hawaii - The Big Island would be ideal. One day, I keep telling DH, one day. I'd even settle to live there from Nov. to April every year, so it doesn't have to be a permanent move.

Wallycat...get in car...drive to hurricane ridge. the road is open variable times in winter. you will get all the snow you are missing. go snowshoe. go xc ski. I think there is even a small downhill area up there, or used to be. probably plenty of other roads but that one is maintained and open for public use, just not every day of the week. DH and I went snowshoeing 2 days ago, but the closest for us is mt baker. you should be able to drive high enough to get beyond the cascade concrete and into some fluffy powder, until it warms up and rains!
ETA too late, it warmed up and rained. if you or DH is 62 or older, get a senior parks pass for $10 for life. a huge money saver.

An affordable, stylish, well-constructed sofa, and someone to haul away mine - for free. Can't find any I like, except pics of sofas made in Italy.
What do YOU want, Catbatty?

I've been busy alphabetizing my list and typing it in Excel. Just kidding. Interesting question!
Off the top of my head..... I can't really think of much, I've been trying to pare down what I have, but I could certainly think of a few things just to play.
A new laptop (mine is ancient), some new clothes, a few beautiful, oh my I love it leather bags (weakness!). I'm tired of the wall unit in my living room (don't really care for it that much now, just ok), and I would like a new table and chairs (one of those wood tables that makes me swoon). And since I might as well go big time, might as well have it go into a beautiful apartment .... I'm thinking a brownstone, with all the details I love... crown molding, amazing wood floors (original ideal), a big kitchen with hmm, maybe soapstone counters. A huge pantry. Spa like bathroom. Some great modern paintings. Some glassware from Simon Pearce, some pottery (no list would be complete without some handmade bowls). Some Le Creuset to go into those cabinets. A new watch --- I saw a Shinola brand one that I loved (bonus for being made in the US too!) so that would be a good start. An oven mitt (ha). And have someone come to my house to dry/style my hair every time I wash it (I hate drying it/flat ironing). And .....

I don't mind looking, I just can't find one that I like that's affordable.Over time some of the seat cushions have flattened out. I feel like I'm sitting in a ditch.

I'd love to get one in leather, but that's not happening with cats.

I was thinking (black) leather too. The Chesterfield sofas are pretty, but probably not too comfy for lounging.
So how do you guys unload, uh, get rid of your old sofas? I donated the last one to the SA, but they are getting really picky.
There's no way I could drag mine onto the street for the city to pick up (by appt only, I've heard).

An affordable, stylish, well-constructed sofa, and someone to haul away mine - for free. Yes! This is what I want. I have just started shopping and already my brain hurts. Sounds like quality furniture is just difficult to find. And there are the decisions about style, size, fabric, etc. Ugh. Oh yeah, I need a new master bathroom too! Carole
