Just wondering if anyone drinks Tart Cherry Juice or takes it in a capsule form to help with arthritic pain or inflamation? I'm trying to get my mom to try it, but she's of the "it won't help" mindset, so a tough sell. I know the juice should be organic and tart, pure.

I know it helps with gout, but not sure how it is for over all joint pain. It is also said to help people sleep more soundly. It is supposed to have natural melatonin in it. Can you "sell her" on the idea of better sleep? Apple Pectin supplements (or certo with grape juice per People's Pharmacy" ) also supposed to help joints. You can search People's Pharmacy and print or email her the comments which may help sway her.

Thanks wallycat and cookieee. Sleep would be welcome to her as I know she has terrible insomnia. I'll look into the apple pectin as well.
Cookiee, do you have joint pain or inflammation issues and the cherries help with that? Or do you just like them as a snack?
I know there is no quick fix, as my mom also has fibromyalgia and her BP is all over the place, even with meds. It's hard to know what symptoms are from what. I know there isn't a magic pill, but if something that can help with the inflammation, it would go a long way. My sister, who lives closer to her, has her on some vitamins (not sure which exactly), but my mom claims they don't help. She has been dealing with for most of her adult life and now that she is older (only 73) and less mobile (which I really think is the problem), she complains more of the pain and inflammation. Getting old sucks.
Thanks again.

So far, the only thing that has helped was a cortisone shot from orthopedic surgeon #2. Had seen 4 docs and wore a cast/splint for aboUt 4 mos. Still not 100%. Still wearing a cast/splint off and on. The first few docs diagnosed as ra or tendonitis w/o so much as an xray. Just told me to take a tylenol, etc. Apparently I can't take anti iinflammatories becaUse of a heart condItion/meds. This diagnosis from doc #4 was "inflammation." I have seen late night TV ads for oxyrub, but the ortho's office had not heard of it. Have not heard about cherry juice. Let us know how it works.

My sister bought some juice and will be taking it to my mom today. Hope she likes it enough to drink it. Reading a bit more on it, I think the juice is better than eating dried cherries since you would need to eat A LOT of cherries to equal what is in the juice.
calcook, my mom has had cortisone shots in the past for her knees I think, and from what I remember, she felt better the first time, but later shots didn't help. Like I said, I'm not even sure what pain is from what ailment. Do you have arthritis?

I bought some tart cherry juice at Trader Joe's the other day and have been using it in my smoothies. I don't think I would have bought it had it not been for this thread so thanks - we're enjoying a new twist in our smoothies . I read where you need to drink a couple of glasses a day to get relief from joint pain so I'll probably buy a couple bottles next time since what I'm putting in the smoothies probably isn't enough. DH and I both have plenty of aches and pains so I'm anxious to see if this brings us any relief.

I bought some juice and just ordered some concentrate from Amazon since I tend to drink mostly water and I can add it to my bottle. I haven't looked for it locally yet, so it was easier to order. It's a bit cheaper this way too.
