EVERNOTE - WEBPAGE CLIPPER
Interesting. I only really took a serious look at it today. (I've saved webpages to it for a few years...but never looked em over--not really. Never understood it...and didn't investigate.) However, now I have an urgent need to see what the program can do.
I've discovered that the free version lets me copy and store up to 60 meg per month.
What does it do?
You go to a webpage that you like. If you would like a a copy of it, you click at top of screen (on Elephant icon) and a menu drops down...you pick whatever you want: Full Article, Simple Article, Full Page, Bookmark, Screenshot.
Article: all pages of a thread in a forum, for instance. (Everything is included. It's a duplicate of what you see in the thread.)
Simplified: article strips out everything but the text of the post. No mention of who made the post.
Full Page: probably if you only want first page of a thread
So it grabs whatever you wish, you press SAVE...and it puts the page(s) to the online storage part of your Evernote. But you also get to have a whole, really cool desktop version which has text editor, various sorting methods...and you can sort by date and tags and oh my gosh. As I understand it, even when you are offline you still have all the pages available to you. AND, I've discovered that I can change the font (bigger and bigger...easier to read) and add Tags (categories) or my own typed in comments...I can REMOVE all the extra text that I don't want to see. THIS IS SO COOL!!!
Oh and it syncs if you want for up to 2 devices (max for the free version).
So it's: find what you want, press the elephant icon which you will install at top of your browser (automatically after you approve it when it asks u if you want it), you go to any website...go to whatever you want...tell it to save what you want. Then open your the Evernote and press the sync button and that new grab will be placed in your window, loaded into your own computer. You should see it on my computer. It's really quite nice. Lots of sorting options. I can do all kinds of things with the things I elect to save. WOW
OH OH, I forgot to say: After you press Save it offers you neato options right there on the spot. One is Share. You press that and start typing the name of the person you want to share it with, and it takes it from there, fills in the address (I sent myself and my husband a test) and an invite to come get it appeared in our email. Recipient then has to, if they want to open the Share, have to make up a password and enter (makes begins begins their free account, I guess...and allows them to have the very same article in THEIR Evernote.
Question: anyone know of a better way to save articles, threads, pages from websites? Would love to hear.
