I saw this recipe on BudgetBytes.com and I'm thinking of making them tomorrow -- more like just using the recipe for some ideas since I will be cutting the amount way back and will just add the amounts that I think works. I love sweet potatoes and almost always just roast them but the words maple and brown butter caught my eye. I hardly use butter in cooking and/or day to day but I do have some leftover butter in the freezer, and I've never used brown butter before. I will use her cooking instructions. Very few ingredients in the recipe: sweet potatoes, butter, maple syrup, cin, nutmeg, cloves , pecans. (so short and even shorter when I make them since I will skip the cloves, blech, and nutmeg - unless I have some in the cabinet) linkA picture from her site: So my question, it would be great to make ahead, what would be the best way to heat them? Stovetop or just a quick microwave. Or Thanks.

To make these, i would just roast the sweet potatoes and scoop out the flesh To me, roasted sweet potatoes are tastier than boiled sweet potatoes, plus take less prep time and fewer tools and no pan to wash. Browned butter is easy and delicious. It does need careful watching. Burned butter is awful. Mashed sweet potatoes reheat well either in the microwave or oven. They would freeze well too. For oven I'd put them in an ovenproof dish, cover and bake at 350 til warm. I reheat in the microwave at 50% power. I roast extra sweet potatoes to have in the fridge til I am ready to use them.

PattiA -- Thanks so much for the tips! I've done that once years ago when making reg mashed potatoes and I really liked the taste/ease but I forgot all about it until you mentioned it.
I've only made mashed potatoes (whether white or using sweet) a handful of times ---- not saying I don't love them just don't make it. And wasn't in the mood for my usual roasted sweet potato fries.
