First: I have no affiliation with www.eatyourbooks.com -- other than being a user. (Used the free and now have the paid.)
What I want to tell you about it is:
I believe they give a free member the ability to have a bookshelf (including magazines) of up to 5. (Keep that in mind for what I'm going to tell you below.)
(To find out more about all the benefits and features of Eat Your Books, go to the website.) The one feature that I am addressing here is the magazine feature that I think many of you might be interested in.
Let's say you like a particular few magazines....
you may sub to some, or you may purchase randomly, or you may get from library, or you may just read about or be curious about.
You can add those magazines to your bookshelf at Eat Your Books.
IF they are a really popular magazine, Eat Your Books will often 'Index' them. For instance, I just bought a copy of Fine Cooking Oct/Nov from a store and I have many backcopies of that magazine. I've added that magazine to my bookshelf at EYB.
I go to EYB and sure enough, they have already indexed my most recent purchase of Fine Cooking (and many older issues). What does that mean to me? It means that every recipe within this issue of Fine Cooking is listed in sortable order, with page numbers, ingreds list, too....and a LINK to each real recipe online at the Fine Cooking website!
I can see that their are 42 recipes in this mag (it shows the total number at EYB).
This is something you might want to explore. I have used this feature of EYB for several things. I've used in in conjunction with RecipeFox. I've used it to just get me to the place where the online real recipe is and then I apply Mastercook's online grab tool to GET me the recipe (and put it into my Mastercook) and I've used it just to get me to the real recipes website location in order to post about the recipe (as in share the link to it) OR grab a text copy of the recipe for myself or someone else OR to send the link via email to a friend, etc.
So, what I do is just place all my fav mags on my bookshelf and access their contents that way,,,via EYB. Maybe you can access the same info without actually adding them to your bookshelf. Been so long I don't remember. BUT ANYWAY....this is something I think some of you might really enjoy using. Been wanting to tell you about it forever. PS: EYBwill send you an email each time one of the items you've placed on your bookshelf gets 'indexed, too.
