I see a lot of recipes calling for sherry and I’m not really sure what to buy. Most don’t call for a large portion so wondering how long it lasts. Thanks.

are you asking brand or type? Manzanilla. Amontillado. Palo Cortado. Oloroso. Pedro Ximénez. Moscatel. Medium / Pale Cream / Cream.
I've use Lustau, osborn, local stuff For drinking, I prefer the sweeter stuff. For cooking, the drier stuff. Amontillado or Manzanilla (types) work well as subs for Chinese Shaoxing Wine

I was looking for a brand. Something basic that I could use when a recipe calls for sherry. I did read an article that said when a recipe calls for just sherry, that generally means dry.

Lustau and Osborn are both very good. Out here, I sometimes need to go to a liquor store (hours away) since our grocery stores carry very little of anything out here.

Just good ol' Taylors Dry Sherry purchased for less than $10/ bottle from the antiquated PA Wine & Spirits system, and it lasts for years
