Where do we FAIL?
My DH leaves muddy prints and spots on white exterior doors. (One to garage, one leading out of garage.) Muddy fingers from his garden. Good mud, it feeds us. HOWEVER, he NEVER cleans the smudges.
He NEVER closes doors or cupboards. (Seldom LOCKS doors, either.) DRIVES ME NUTS. HE CANNOT DO THEM. I don't know why.
He gets WATER all over kitchen floors...without fail...every day. Sometimes includes STICKY-ness. WHY?? I don't know.
These (the above) are my only complaints. Otherwise, he is super-helpful and great to live with.
PS: He turns off lights. He would prefer to live in the dark.
There, I've aired my complaints about DH. YOU have any about YOUR PERFECT MATE???
ME? I am so perfect. <smug grin> My ONLY fault (to MY delusional mind)...<cough>...is that I hoard stuff (books, mags, art supplies...perhaps kitchen stuff) ------ Personality-wise... I suppose HE would say: she tries to MICRO-MANAGE ME/STUFF. I stop her quite often...right in her tracks. I either entirely freeze up...and she gets the hint...or I say: STOP TRYING TO MICRO-MANAGE. That gets to her.

LOL, no one is perfect but if we are perfect in the eyes of our spouses, that is all that matters. And let me re-phrase, if the relationship works, don't analyze it, LOL. My DH is oblivious to dirt. I find it hilarious when we traveled, he'd make sure the bed was made, the towels hung up, blah, blah...but at home...different man. It isn't that he doesn't want to be helpful, he just actually fails to see the crumbs, dirt, mess in his wake...maybe it is why I don't clean as much as I should. It would be a full time job. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it. My sister's DH did ALL the cleaning. Spotless, immaculate perfection. He died recently and she is so bereft...and that makes me sad. So to your previous post....life is short, be happy. Clean is a relative term.

I think men are genetically wired to not notice/care about silly little things like dirt. I realize he's just not gonna change. So when it gets particularly bad, I point out the sticky drips on the floor/counter from his sweet tea/soda and ask him to wipe it up, or vacuum the trail of debris he created. The biggest things he has going for him are he's still cute and he makes me laugh, many times before breakfast Ilene

Exactly! He's cute, and he makes me laugh. When I point out the water or the drips, etc., he does try (often) to fix...by grabbing a clean (often my favorite) dish towel, and tossing it on the floor (or wherever) and mooshing it around in the mess. He means well. He's a good guy. Catbatty I think men are genetically wired to not notice/care about silly little things like dirt. I realize he's just not gonna change.
