Decided to come back to recipe tracking. I missed it. I wish the best for all of us in 2023.
12/30 Apple Crumble with Hot Custard (Saveur 9/15) This was delicious, but the custard was not a sauce, more like pudding and why did you have to precook the apples? I melted butter instead of cutting it in and added a handful of walnuts.
12/30 Greek Salad (The New Best Recipe) A great salad! I didn’t have red wine vinegar: used white balsamic and a bit of regular vinegar.
12/14 Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookies (Small Batch Bakes) Gluten- & dairy-free. Makes 6 cookies! Was easy and delish. Based on Ovenly recipe.
12/14 Lime Coconut Macaroons (Small Batch Bakes) Gluten- and dairy-free.The lime was nice in these, but things oozed out of them—syrup? They weren’t really cohesive, but did stick together when baked and I just cut off edges (which were actually delicious!).
12/10 Raspberry Pie Crunch Bars (NYT) And one with peaches. Good, but each frozen fruit was different: raspberries too much liquid (though it was crispy in the end) and peaches were dry. I’d try again with fresh raspberries.
12/10 Winter Cranberry Sipper (BHG) Delicious, but we added WAY more juice and ginger ale.
12/10 Pimento Cheese Ball Pinecone (Woman’s Day) This was good; be sure to mince pimentos. Makes a lot!
12/10 Herbed Goat Cheese Ball Hedgehog (Woman’s Day) This was my favorite of the two. Light, good more delicate flavor but not wimpy.
12/4 Homemade Buttermilk Waffles (MSL June 1999) Brown sugar and cinnamon and I added walnuts. Good but not crisp? Not enough cinnamon.
12/4 Cranberry Maple Syrup (Gourmet Dec 1993) Supposed to go with Toasted Walnut Buttermilk Pancakes, but I made the waffles instead. Good—Mom said it tasted like blueberries.

Happy New Year! I made saag gosht (lamb and spinach) the other night that I sort of tweaked blending a few recipes I read. Outstanding!
