Apologies if I've posted this before...I'm curious for those that order vitamins, herbs, food, etc. on-line, what do you do during heat-waves. Last year we hit 99 for 3 days; unheard of but for every 20 or so years (yeah, I know, welcome to climate change) and my fish oil arrived congealed into a glob. Do you guys simply not order during the worst of summer or heat/waves or assume things will arrive in relatively decent condition, regardless of how hot the trucks and vans are?
Thanks for indulging me.

it's hard to tell where products originate from, or areas they pass thru in shipment. if I order cocoa/ chocolate or temp sensitive things I don't do it in summer. locally, no risk so far this year!

I recently had to resupply chocolate for my home based candy/bakery business. I order 25-50# at a time. Although I try to wait until the weather is cooler, I was all out so could not wait. I called the company ahead (a web based restauraunt supply company that has been very reliable) and asked them how they ship perishable items like this and what they do should it arrive in unsatisfactory condition. After I was reassured, I went ahead and placed the order on a Friday thinking it would not get shipped until Monday as we had an early late spring heat wave that weekend and it was supposed to break by Monday. Anyway, they shipped it immediately and it was due to arrive that Sunday (temp in the 90's!!). Fortunately it was packed in an insulated box with disposable ice packs and the chocolate was protected from any melting with plastic bags. Everything was fine but if it was not, they said to just send them a picture of the items that arrive unsatisfactorily and they would ship out a replacement. So bottom line....call the company if you are unsure and it does not state their policies on their website.

Thanks ladies. I risked putting in a vitamin order/food order (vitacost) and hopeful it comes from their nevada warehouse and can survive any heat the trucker encounters. No chocolate being ordered! Karen..YUMMMMMMM on your chocolate candy. I'm drooling just thinking about it. I bet your stuff is amazing.
