I've been making salads daily (lunch) and typically use a big stainless bowl before I plate up.... curious what you guys use and if wooden bowl is the best or just stick with my stainless....??

I'm always concerned about what kind of finish a wooden bowl has and whether it will absorb oils or dressings. And how much moisture can it handle? Stainless bowls are so practical -- but I have to admit to not having any. My mom did, but I've avoided them, in part for the occasional time I need to melt something in the microwave. Seems silly as I type it. I have a couple of large melamine bowls that are my go to for a huge salad for a crowd, but for us I tend to use glass (I like seeing salads, especially fruit and green salads), china (our regular dishes and serving bowl) or ceramic bowls (thinking of a Mason Cash one). I tend to use my wooden bowls for serving bread, chips -- dry things.

I use glass, ceramic or stainless ---- I don't want to deal with maintaining a wood salad bowl. And I like to toss most of my bowls in the dishwasher --- obviously a no go with wood. I am a sucker for wood spoons, and spatulas but phew, not bowls. Handmade pottery bowls/plates on the other hand.

Thanks. Excellent points. Maybe I will stick to my stainless.
