I've had this antique clock for awhile (first 2 pictures) and really not my style at all since I like modern, contemporary, weakness for pottery etc. But my mom gave it to me and it was my grandfathers. Fast forward, I just received in the mail another clock. This one was one of my moms all time favorite things (and from my grandfather). And ironically she also had pretty contemporary taste too. So, I don't need two clocks, and would like to get rid of the first one rather than just putting it in a closet and take up space. Anyone know what is that white stuff on the edges. wear, dried up polish (my guess)? I did a search online and two seconds later I think I found the same clock on Ebay (they had their one priced at $199 --- which means zip in terms of being accurate, plus condition varies). And what to do with it? It does have some wear -- and from the Ebay post, they say its brass plating. If I knew for sure it was worth practically nothing off to my Goodwill, if worth a bit more -- I would like to just donate it to one of those charity stores (but don't know of any close to me, but I'll look). Not saying I wouldn't take some cash for it I'm trying to avoid the hall closet. And my sister wouldn't want it She already has some antique clocks (my grandfather had a thing for clocks). Thx!

If that is real brass, could someone have used brass cleaner on it and not gotten it off completely? On my screen it looks a little like green tinge to it.

Wallycat --- I was thinking the same thing, that it was dried on cleaner. I wonder if I can get it off? I don't want to invest lots of time on it, but I don't want to store it either.
