Seventy years ago in New York City, our mother served this pork item. It came wrapped in a cloth mesh and was cooked with that on. She boiled it with potatoes and some times with cabbage. What was that? is it still around? Thanks

This sounds like something my mother made called originally "boiled dinner".LOL~ Usually the meat was ham. I do think there was something called a cottage ham back then. Also..don't forget the fresh green beans.
