I just finished reading Save Me the Plums by Ruth Reichl, the long time editor of Gourmet magazine. A fascinating look into the workings of a cooking magazine and the various attempts that were made near the end to keep Gourmet afloat.
I also enjoyed this book very much. So much, in fact, that I also listened to the audio "No Becoming My Mother" (another autobiographical novel) on a trip last month and liked it a lot,, so then I read "Tender to the Bone" (about her childhood and how she got into restaurant reviewing). Both very interesting. She also wrote a fiction novel, called "Delicious" that was quite good and the character's experiences as the magazine called Delicious shut down seemed to parallel Ruth's own experiences with Gourmet.
