I find myself in the kitchen (I hate housework). So far this week I have made: Chicken Noodle Soup White Bread 5 dozen chocolate chip cookies 2 dozen chocolate cupcakes frosted with butter cream frosting 2 dozen banana chocolate chip muffins 1 dozen blueberry muffins
Now I need to find a recipe to make pork loin...then I need to clean up the kitchen...again...
With all these sweets I need to find some exercise routine to do 😏

Do you have somewhere to take those baked goods, Pam? I am afraid to bake! I did make this oatmeal bake this morning--it was good and different from my usual toast. Thank goodness, I have work to do. I usually work from home so it isn't that big a shift for me, but it feels like it. No regular getting out of the house. I am usually a reader, but don't want to. Watching TV and meditating and wasting time on the internet. I am so happy that texts and emails and messages from friends and family are coming in more regularly. I did my first online exercise class this morning. And I am getting out and walking up and down the block or further if the weather allows. I am also taking a nap once a day. Not usually a napper, but it feels like stress relief!

I've been dragging out my online volunteer commitments as long as possible, partly do to fear of not having something I HAVE to do and partly because I'm not in the mood. Tomorrow I will send off the last of the emails and arrange to do the little physical stuff (actually sending hard copies of the last newsletter!) after hours when no staff is present.
Then I'm tackling spring cleaning with a vengeance. At long last the file cabinet will be purged! And silver polished. And inside windows washed. My motto is "If it's not moving, clean it. If it's moving, hit it until it stops and then clean it."
Made my first ever Instacart purchase today. Of course, no TP available without face-to-face purchase so at some point I'll have to face hours-long lines which is scary as a senior. I may try Wal Mart's senior's only hour next Tuesday am even though that will still mean an hour inline before opening.
I really glad I have cooking skills because it's coming down to finding a way to may good nutrition with very limited resources. And that will get worse before better. I did take advantage of Penzey's 20% off sale to stock up.

I have shared my baked goods with my granddaughter, a couple of friends and some ended up in the freezer... Tomorrow morning I need to make a grocery store run...almost out of coffee!!! I can do without a lot of things but I do need my coffee...😉
Target is open early one day a week, Dollar General is open early, Fresh Thyme is open early 3 days a week, and a couple of the other stores here in Omaha are open early for senior shoppers...I saw Texas is not doing that at HEB but check with other grocery stores in your area to see, there might be others than Walmart...

Hi cooking friends,
We have not quite got the work from home situation settled with my job. I work in healthcare, so we are working out how to see our patients by telemedicine into their homes. If I am needed to work in the hospital setting, I will need to go in. So right now, I go to our clinic, attend virtual and real meetings, answer phone and email questions from patients, and try to help plan how to run the office remotely for our staff and doctors. I sit at my desk, and honestly, my mind often goes in lots of different directions like a bunch of hamsters. I don't feel very productive.
At home, I try to go out for a walk with my husband every day. We feel better seeing the non-human world going about its regular business. I spend some (maybe a lot of) time and energy planning the best use of the food we have. Also thankful for our cooking skills and the grill! I brave a trip to the grocery store once a week or so to see what is on offer (first on-line order for groceries for us yesterday - worked great). I have plans for an on-line exercise class this weekend (go Zumba!). I am taking time to call my relatives and friends. I've looked at the collection of seeds I've kept in a box from over the years and may start some spinach and herb seeds in pots this weekend.
Thanks for sharing your home stories and plans.

MN shut down nearly everything last Thurs and Fri so we're still adjusting here. Not working from home yet, but we've moved staff around (work from home, alternate hours option, etc) so I can still go into the office for the moment. Also struggling with being productive at work and home and I hope as things settle over the weekend and next week that I can gain a new equilibrium.
What I'm struggling with is losing my gym time at Noon and the five yoga classes I taught mid-day and in the evening. That was a HUGE part of my day and I miss the structure and movement. I need to make a concerted effort to get out and walk more. It's too easy to work through lunch. At home it's too easy to curl up on the couch and binge watch cooking shows.
I <i>want<\i> to take this time to do some spring cleaning and purge closets and "stuff", but mentally, I feel just fried and don't have the capacity to tackle it. Probably too soon after last weeks office upheaval and staff drama. Meanwhile, keeping myself busy reading, little bit of knitting, little bit of online presence, cooking, and trying to get out for walks.
So that's where I'm at right now.
Stay well everyone!

Hi Varaile, I wonder if you can reach your yoga students on-line. That would be soothing for them and provide some company and normalcy. I just participated in a Zumba class held through the app Zoom. It's free. The teacher set up the class time and provided a code to enter. I opened the Zoom app on my phone, typed in the code, and there she was, ready for class. I clicked the box to close my out-going video so no one was subjected by my home dancing . It helped me feel a little better to focus on something besides the what is and the what ifs of this situation. I am using Zoom in other other direction at work, to open a meeting and email invites to others to click a link and join my meeting. The person has to be aware of the start time so they are watching their email. You could easily set up a class email invite to have a small yoga class. The free Zoom app allows 1 hour of time before closing down (at least that's what I see at work). You could try it with a close group of classmates and see if it will work for you. I am trying to take any available coworker on a walk at lunch to make myself get out. No one has turned me down yet!

As soon as the quarantine started, I thought I was going to go crazy at home, but I am fine. I also started cooking, working out, and taking more time for myself. Working at home is hard, but I don't have to go anywhere and I can sleep longer. That's great.
