I'm almost sure I've frozen plain half and half before with no probs. And I know I've frozen Coffee Mate Natural Bliss Sweet Cream creamer the few times I've bought it (Nonfat Milk, Heavy Cream, Sugar, Natural Flavor).
Over the weekend I defrosted some half and half (not sure of brand/type etc) and it smelled find but it didn't mix in my ice coffee (oh the horror) and looked curdled.
So was curious if anyone freezes it? Or if you've had the same problem that I had. When I google it, some say fine to freeze just shake, some say no good to freeze. I'm thinking the fat content plats a part? Maybe that was the prob.
I had some 1% in the fridge so all was not lost, and I'm sipping an ice coffee as I type.
Just wondering. Thanks.

Applecrisp-I have frozen half and half in the past. It does separate sometimes upon defrosting but is fine to use in baking and I have not usually had an issue with it in cooking either. I can see that it might look off putting in coffee however(using it "as is" after defrosting) but it should not hurt you. Since I drink my coffee black, I have never had this issue as I only use it for baking if I am freezing/defrosting it.

KarenW --- After giving it a really good shake, when I poured it into my iced coffee it just stayed on top and didn't mix in. If nothing else, if didn't look at all appetizing. I recall reading that some said fine to use in baking/cooking just like you wrote. Since I had some milk in the fridge, I just pitched the really small tupperware container and went with the milk. I do have two more small containers in the freezer good for a few coffees. I will see if those are better, I don't know if those were from the same carton of half and half. It is sometimes tough to go through a small carton so I wanted to freeze some. And I didn't want to find ways to use it up. Maybe pasturized, ultra etc plays a part. No biggie regardless. I think I'm going to pick up those tetra pack boxes of milk (the individual seving size) that I haven't bought in awhile -- that will come in handy if I want to have a coffee but no milk in the fridge. And have to say that half and half is soooo much better than skim (my usual go to for cereal) or 1%. I should try it black -- that would solve the problem.
I should check to see if nut milks have a longer shelf life in the fridge. I tried coconut milk, and to me, blech (but it might have been in my head, ha).
Thx!
