Gorgeous cover of a chocolate cream layer cake smothered in berries.
And I'm so pleased that the last letter from the editor was written by Ann Taylor Pittman.
I love Eating Well and cook more from it these days than CL, but I am as sad about this closure as I was when Gourmet got the axe. It will be missed in my kitchen.

I have not looked at an issue since the disastrous ( to me) CL format experimental re-do years ago. I have subscribed to EW all along. I hope this is a successful pairing. my subscription is good for another 2 years so I will find out.

Same here traildoggie -- though I do find myself still missing the CLBB at times when I have the recipe but remember the discussion and want to check what so and so said. It is sad, but especially when you pair it with Gourmet and others that have come and gone.

So true. the CL forums were so much fun and informative. EW never could get anything going in the forum area. I am hoping this is a successful venture, melding the two magazines. I haven't bought a CL in forever, but I did see the "farewell Issue" cover on CL when shopping this week.

Wow, I had no idea that CL was doing this— saw the last issue magazine in line at the grocery store today but no time to look thru it so I went into my old bookmarks and found this site. I also stopped reading the magazine several years ago when they reformatted it (not in a good way, of course), then they took down the forums... I have binders full of recipes and “conversations” from those days and I still use them! I used to subscribe to EW, but after they sold out to Meredith I haven’t been too happy with their format either (but still buy an occasional issue— the format change was not as drastic as the CL one was, IMO). Bye, CL— thanks for the memories.
