I like to periodically take a review of my expenses --- which is simple to do since I have it all plugged into excel. I've looked at my phone, cable, internet etc costs, but haven't done much about that part of my expenses, other than negotiate a better deal at different times (call your providers, soooo often I get a better rate just by making a quick call).
So, I was thinking of finally do some number crunching and perhaps cut my cable. For those that don't have a cable -- do you use some other service? what is it? do you like it? I know some many use Netflix, Hulu etc. And there are others, sling and ??
Right now I have a mid range plan with Comcast ---- the plans below it didn't have MSNBC and a few other stations that I often or sometimes watch. I negotiated an amazing great deal a few years back but it gets an an increase every year. I think I pay around $80.
I haven't looked into other ways to watch tv --- can you access shows as if you were watching them on cable, or is there a delay, say next day, to watch some shows? I'm really not familiar with the different options other than hearing so many cutting traditional cable.
I also have Verizon for my internet (and have to have a phone with it to get their internet access) that I can bundle with Comcast and likely save a few dollars. Is there anyway to get internet other than using one of those big providers in one's area. Probably other ways (other than sitting in my bldgs lobby and using their internet, just kidding), to access the internet?
And off topic, I'll throw in a savings tip -- I'd highly suggest using Ebates if you order things online (whether actual item, Groupon, travel etc). And now some brick and mortar stores included. I just received my latest check for $80. And I think they are still offering a bonus for new sign-ups and there are referral bonuses too. IMO, just found money.
Thanks!
