Just back from Barnes & Noble...where I bought Eating Well's "Mushroom" magazine. (Costs about as much as a BOOK these days, but I break the bank for mushroom info and recipes...who can RESIST?)
I'll let you know more after I've read it more...articles and recipes. I hope it's all that I suspect it is. All kinds of subjects, like drying them, storing them, growing your own, etc.
Next subject: I just want to make sure that everybody knows they can PROBABLY go to their library online and borrow magazines (digital copies of). Not all, but many. Plus, after you select one, if you look hard at the screen, it says something about click here if you want to see OTHER issues of this magazines. As I recall, some of them let me COPY out of them. Our library has most kinds, even Baking From Scratch. Not sure if they will have these new Eating Well (subject) mags. At B&N they had Eating Well AVOCADO, for example, in addition to the MUSHROOM issue I brought home with me. (Love Avocados...but being born and raised in So. Cal. I think I know lots about them already. Lived on them! Miss those trees now that I am in Oregon...and even in California we couldn't always get our hands on great ones off-season...never mind...rambling thinking about those huge, creamy Hass Avocados...) Speaking of which: I've found here in Oregon that Trader Joe's often has good, reliable Avocados. Other stores, it's more iffy for some reason.
Books: Amazon is sure getting tricky with ebooks. Older publications we could load from the Kindle download app...and over into Calibre. No more on newer books. Only can read online OR in a purchased Amazon type reader. Boo Hoo. As a result, I seldom buy or download Amazon ebooks. (One reason, I love to read cookbooks using Calibre...it lets me copy out a recipe if I want to keep it, for instance. Plus, I can read each in various ways...making HUGE for my weak eyes.)
Any book or mag chat anybody?
