Hey folks: I was cleaning out my email...ran across a hint posted by Terry P (a member here, btw)...and she credits someone named Kathy Grant for the tip. Are you ready? First: already you know if you want to make potato salad you can add uncooked eggs in their shells to top of raw whole potatoes and pressure them to perfection (potatoes and eggs all at once), right? (I've done it. It's GREAT. The cooked eggs peel so easily. And Wah-Law, you have potato salad.) BUT THIS TIP BELOW IS FOR MAKING CHOPPED HARD BOILED EGGS... ALONE... AND NEVER BOTHER PEELING -- AT ALL!!!!!!!
As Kathy said: "If you're going to chop up hard boiled eggs why bother to peel them?" After making, she said: "Egg loaf slid right out! Now just chop away for whatever you need chopped eggs for! No ice bath, no peeling!"
So,
For instance, do you make chopped hard boiled eggs, say for egg salad sandwiches? (The Girl Scouts are coming to your place for lunch! Oh dear. That's lots of eggs to boil and peel!!)
Instead, do this: Get out your Instant Pot or Pressure Cooker. Oil or spray a bowl (one that can go in your Instant Pot). Crack eggs into the bowl. (In her example, Kathy did 12 eggs at once.)
Pour 1 cup water into the Instant Pot. Set trivet inside. Set bowl on trivet.
Set pressure for 5 minutes. Natural release.Test for desired doneness by inserting a knife into cooked yolks. Let cool.
PS: Terry said: " Do remember to oil that bowl or the eggs will stick."Thank you Terry for posting this tip over at the Eat-G Google group!!
