I posted a few items over the last few days. I don't really expect much (there are pages and pages of new listings since my item posted) but I thought I would give it a try. I'm curious if nothing else.
Is there a limit on how many items you can post each day. I know they have a problem with spammers and those that abuse the system and they are trying to control that. I did recall reading about a limit and how they can block you or something, and I found this blurb, practically hidden in the FAQ section.
How often can I post? You may post to one category and in one city, no more than once every 48 hours.
Does that mean you can't post the same item in different categories? Or does it mean you can only post once every 48 hours? That doesn't seem reasonable/realistic
And curious if anyone has has good luck selling on Craigslist (not for large items since I can see the appeal to that, can't ship on couch on Ebay etc). Anyone try the other similar companies like .... (blanking on names). Any tips/hints that really helped (of course good pics, dimensions, be super clear on condition, whether new .....)
Thanks.

I've had mixed results on Craigslist. When we were moving from WI, we put up a lot of stuff as free, and that went like hotcakes, of course.

I haven't sold anything on Craigslist but did rent two apartments through them. What I have used to sell items locally is Nextdoor - do you have that available in your area? We had multiple offers on the items we were selling. Also I see FB now has something called Marketplace that seems to be for selling items locally but I really don't know anything else about it.

Thanks mcgee. I've never heard of Nextdoor -- I'll check to see if it is my area. Oh the other company I was thinking of was OfferUp. I 'm going to post a few more items and see what happens. And if I was smart, I would just then donate the items after the listing is up after 30 days. Assuming anything is left (ha, my guess is all of it).

Here is a link to check for your neighborhood at Nextdoor: nextdoor.com/find-neighborhood/We love it and check it daily. We sold some appliances and furniture through it and got recommendations for house painters and a handyman/woman. Folks post traffic issues/road closures, police activity, etc - just a ton of stuff impacting your immediate area and surrounding neighborhoods that you might not otherwise be aware of. It's a fabulous resource. ETA: and lots of posts on lost and found pets 🙂

Thanks McGee -- I just did a quick look and they are in my area. Thx for the tip, I've never heard of it. I will definitely look into it, it sounds like a great source of info.
Nothing sold on Craiglist yet -- I did lower the prices when I went to renew my posts. Perhaps that will help, although I doubt it. Who doesn't want a LC dutch oven, brand new, in box for $15. Just kidding on that.
I have to scratch my head on some of the things people sell. For example, for $2 -- three plastic key rings (you know those tags that you might label back door, mail box key), four faded dish towels for $1.

This cracked me up, just had to share.
I've sold a few things on Craigslist the last few weeks and I wanted to check into OfferUp and perhaps list a few things there. I spent some time looking at the site, wanted to see what they have in my area, types of items and such. So I typed in Le Creuset just to see (and a simple way to get a narrowed search) and there were posts for some Le Creuset, and one of the sellers.... they choose to put the LC on top of their toilet seat, and that's the setting for the pic. Is that the new "staging".
I did get a few responses on Craiglist and many of them really want to offer you a low ball you, and sometimes the dollar amount they offer is just a small fraction of your original price. Of course, that is to be expected.
I just took a quick look on offerup, and will take a better look a the Nextdoor one that mcgee mentioned (could be interesting/useful even if not selling things). And then off to donate most of what doesn't sell or not worth posting.
