Brown Sugar Bacon Bites from cookbook: The Farm Chicks in the Kitchen: Live Well, Laugh Often, Cook Much (2009) by Serena Thompson and Teri Edwards
This super easy bacon, water chestnut, brown sugar appetizer recipe (serve them warm) looked so good to me that I just had to keep it. Still have not made it. ~ Brenda

I'm a veggie, but my husband loves these. We make a soy sauce, sugar and a little red pepper sauce we soak the water chestnuts in though before baking. Oh wow. You are my kinda people. Gimme that soy sauce and red pepper sauce on everything!!!!!!!!!!! We eat veggie a bunch of the time. We take those two ingredients (soy sauce and red pepper sauce) and make things that I cannot believe taste so good. My husband does broc or cauli that way. (He doesn't put them in water...just in a fry pan with about 1 T. of butter (lid on top) and gets them tender (tests by stabbing with fork) and if they are, he removes lid, turns them over and lets brown a bit. After plating perhaps a bit of shredded cheddar...just a touch sometimes... OH OH OH...then some soy sauce and red pepper sauce -- we use Sriracha, and I love to add a bit of pepper sauce/chili sauce (the see through/sugary kind). Kill me now.... He tells me: he plates and adds those things, then puts in microwave for 30 seconds before serving. So, do you follow that (above) recipe exactly otherwise?
