Are you going to watch? Which movies, if any, have you seen or want to see?
I haven't seen any of the movies nominated this year, but I will watch because I like Jimmy Kimmel. I do want to see Lion, but I will wait until it's out on pay per view or dvd. I watched the 60 Minutes episode where the man that the story was about was interviewed and it's something I would like. I'm not into fantasy, sci-fi, superhero movies, etc. I like a good drama with good acting.
I'm pretty sure there is going to be a tad bit of a political messages too.

I haven't watched in ages. I do enjoy looking on line, just to see some of the fashion trends, but otherwise, no interest. We also have not seen any movies in forever unless they are on netflix or HBO/when it is free for a few days. I like a good mystery.

It's fun to watch, although it always ends way too late. I've seen 3 of the movies nominated for Best Picture: La La Land, Hidden Figures, and Manchester by the Sea. I've also seen A Man Called Ove, which is nominated for Best Foreign Film. We usually see the nominees for Best Animated Short Films at our local indie movie theater each year, but it didn't work out for us this year. I'd still like to see Lion, Arrival, and Fences at some point. I agree that there is probably going to be a lot of politics in the acceptance speeches this year, which will get tiresome after a while.
Remember the "good old days" in the old CLBB when people would post photos of the best and worst dressed celebrities?

we will try to watch. last year we tried and all the pre-Oscar stuff was fine. clear, easy to access. when the Oscars themselves started, the signal was purposely scrambled and we could not see anything. we stream. then I read about them complaining about low viewership! well, no wonder. We watch most things that get nominated although not in a big tearing hurry. we get Netflix mail order disks or stream. I absolutely despise musicals, so La la land will skip. love a good dramatic story. not boig on animated stuff either. I like to see the fashions and hair and the humor. expect there will be some biting commentary stuck in there randomly. we just got back from an exhausting trip so I know I would not make it through all the technical stuff tonight anyway, but I will take a look at the beginning.

Watching now. DH and I have seen all of the best picture nominees for feature length, animated shorts and live action shorts. Also saw Jackie and Zootopia. Not sure if we've seen any other nominees. Our local theater shows all the best picture nominees in special showings the week before the Oscars -- actually ending this afternoon. You buy a pass and can see all the films for one price ($35 here). We have really enjoyed that (did it last year too and saw just the shorts the year before).

Watched it and saw the surprise (woops) ending, too. Not big on movies anymore. Get old and they all start to look alike. (Or, perhaps, have seen so many great ones that everything seems to pale...)

we tuned in and watched without a problem last night. no streaming issue. It was a decent show without getting too heavy handed politically IMO. the ending was chaotic. DH said they shouldn't give the duty to "old people" to read, but it sounds like dunaway/beatty were given the wrong envelope or right envelope with wrong info on the card. guess we will find out more in the next day or two. must have been totally embarrassing for them but everyone behaved graciously and well.
surely some surprises. I will get to most of the movies over the next few months. have zero interest in la la land or animated but will see the rest. I don't have to "love" them... just enjoy them. if something is wretched, that's OK too.
