So I might make this again...? Cuban-style slow cooked pork (America's Test Kitchen Slow Cook revolution) Full reviews, comments, suggestions, modifications (because I can't follow a recipe completely) can be found on my blog: Scifi with a Dash of PaprikaHappy New Year Everyone! A few that I can recall from this month:
Repeaters: -Split Pea Soup with smoked turkey breast, Kale, and green peas-me -Lentil Vegetable Shepherd's Pie-CL -Fiesta Tortilla Casserole-http://www.catzinthekitchen.com/2016/10/fiesta-chicken-casserole.html. used the whole jar of salsa and the extra liquid was a good needed. -Spinach Artichoke Lasagna with roasted chicken-me -Green Chile Chicken Tortilla Casserole-http://www.food.com/recipe/green-chile-chicken-tortilla-casserole-473394 -White Chicken Chili-C.I. with my modifications -Turkey (Chicken) Broccoli Phyllo Pie-CL
Tried and True: -Chicken Rice Soup-CL -Green (Tomatillo) Chicken Pozole -Dijon Chicken Stew-CL
I know there were a lot more but I really don't keep a record of what I make. This is all I can recall at the moment.
I successfully used up all of the peppers from our summer garden harvest in the freezer and made an initial dent in the 7+ pounds of tomatillos that I had in there too from the garden. Maybe 5# more to use!
Happy 2017! Karen

I did get in one last recipe last night. And I got an excellent recipe this month! Some good food to end 2016.
Excellent
12/4 Chocolate Espresso Cupcakes (CLBB) Very moist, not too sweet. Used Valhrona dark from TJ’s for ganache. Droste for cupcakes. Did not add espresso beans to the filling.
Make Again
12/29 Holiday Jam (Foolproof Preserving ATK) Very tasty. Mostly cranberry. Got 6. Fussy recipe.
12/6 Farmhouse Vegetable Soup (Michelle/kcmo727 The Irish Pub Cookbook and Cookieee) Soothing. Creamy without being too rich. Pureed half or less. Used only ½ c half and half.
12/4 Spinach Sheet Pan Quiche (SK) Made crust-less in 10.5x7.25 casserole. Light and puffed up nicely.
Good
12/31 Crumb Cake with Pear Preserves (F&W 11/14) Used Holiday Jam. Good—a little cakey. Was thinking it would be more like a coffeecake instead of a cake cake.
12/4 Winter Fruit Salad (SK) Nice flavors and different, but the dried fruit was not visually appealing and just tasted OK.
12/4 Ham and Cheese Brunch Casserole (BH&G 12/14) I’d actually make again and follow directions more—maybe reduce amount of bread. Good flavor, but pepper jelly did not come through.
12/4 Savory Bread Pudding (Family Circle 12/16) Again, I’d make again. Reduce amount of bread and make more of a strata. I liked sausage/apple and slight, slight sweetness from syrup and I normally don't like fruit/sweet and meat.

Love reading this thread! Thx all for posting, and happy new year! I didn't really track/make notes so..... Good Roasted Butternut Squash with Spicy Onions/BA – changed up, cut back on spice since total wimp Roasted Pears with Brie and Pistachios Eating Well, different type of recipe for me, never made roasted pears (have roasted but that was tossed in a soup), subbed walnuts since no fan of pistachios! I had it as a side, www.eatingwell.com/recipe/250382/roasted-pears-with-brie-pistachios/ Good to make something different, but not sure if I would make again. Very good Broccoli Melts SK Bread, cheese, broccoli that is sautéed with lots of garlic and pepper flakes, and tossed with lemon zest, juice and pecorino cheese, and then all broiled up until the cheese gets all melted. Nuff said. I used parm, smittenkitchen.com/2016/02/broccoli-melts/Joy the Bakers Olive Oil Braised Chickpeas Food52 – For me, chickpeas, feta, some warm bread, don't need to say more. Very easy. I didn’t follow that closely, cut back on oil, left out olives since so not a fan, and few other changes. I wonder what other seasoning would be good didn't use the suggested fresh thyme/rosemary. . Uses mainly pantry ingredients so good when running low on groceries but have canned beans, some feta, a 1/2 lemon that is about to dry up. food52.com/recipes/64161-joy-the-baker-s-olive-oil-braised-chickpeas-more-or-less#commentsBaked Chicken with Artichokes and Tomatoes, budgetbytes, really good, easy to put together, always looking for a one-dish meals. www.budgetbytes.com/2016/12/baked-chicken-artichokes-tomatoes/ Chicken Parm Meatballs Dinneralovestory.com www.dinneralovestory.com/chicken-parm-meatballs/ Easy to make and bonus points they are baked in the oven. I basically followed the recipe. Brown Sugar Cookies/Cooks Illustrated, really good! More work than my usual baking (I'm super basic, and you know how detailed those CI folks are). Thankfully I shared since I could have eaten the whole batch myself. And thanks to the boards for helping me find the recipe. t&t Hearty Black Bean Quesadillas/budgetbytes (and Sallyt, if you see this, thanks so much for the restaurant recco mentioned in another thread, I've never been to Little Big Diner)

sallyt -- so glad you tried the SK broccoli melt recipe and that they were a hit!
That is some December list! Such great sounding recipes, but wow, that's lots of cooking. I am trying to use up some odds and ends, so I think I'm going to make that easy chicken soup (and since it is a T&T of yours, I bet a great way to finish off my white rice and the chicken in the freezer).
peachesncream -- I made that budgetbytes recipe again this week, in fact, I had leftovers tonight. This time I threw in more spinach, just basically tossed the spinach in the pot.
And yes, I had to copy that fried apple recipes. Yum.
This thread is always a great source of recipes, I certainly will be reading thru it again and adding more recipes to my to-try list. Thx.

I'm so impressed with all the good recipes posted here. Thank you everyone for sharing Here is my short list. Excellent:French Apple Cake We can't get enough of this cake and a bottle of Meyers Dark Rum is in permanent residence in our kitchen. Lemon Pepper Roast Chicken Breasts So incredibly moist - just make sure it's baked in a small dish with no room to spare. Very Good:Tri-Colore Orzo (Giada) I read many of the reviews and made some changes: 8 oz orzo, 4 c arugula coarsely chopped, 1 c cherries coarsely chopped, 1/2 c pine nuts and only 2 T oil to drizzle over pasta. Will make again:Orange Butter Slice & Bake Cookies from Rachael Ray's December magazine Crisp GngersnapsTotal disaster:Lemon-Cardamom Sugar Cookies Had to toss the whole batch So sour you couldn't even guess they contained cardamom. Not even the suggested ale (for the glaze) was good and we both like beer, the more variety the better.
