I think I've been subscribing to VT for about 10 years now. I don't cook from it a lot, but I'm often inspired by flipping through the magazine. I got a postcard in the mail this week that they have made the decision to go digital only via e-mail newsletter.

Wow. What a strange world. If anything, I woulda thought the trends are in its favor. (Well, I mean: people are eating more vegs/less animal.) Hmmm.... Well. I must have dozens of back copies and copies in MC format sent to me mostly by friends. Guess I'll not be letting THEM go. Gee. Seems so strange...but I'm guessing magazines are all having a hard time. VEG TIMES no more? newsletter? Thanks for the heads up, Mrs.

If you go to their website www.vegetariantimes.com you can sign up for the email newsletter, and they say they will continue to publish recipes and articles online. That remains to be seen though. The last year or so they've really been advertising their cooking classes, so I suspect they will be pushing that a bit in what they send out. I also thought it strange. SO many people are eating veg these days- or at least eating meat-free more than they used to. What just occurred to me was that my current subscription was good through March 2018. Part of my postcard included a private code that I used on their website to have digital access to the entire recipe archives of every VT recipe ever published. I wonder if that digital access is my consolation prize for not getting the full value of my subscription? I won't complain though, I've never paid full price for my sub, and I suspect that was part of what did them in- not enough revenue.

That magazine got me through decades of being vegetarian. I hope they do maintain at least an on line presence.

Problem is nobody reads magazines, newspapers etc... anymore. Everything is digital. I am still old fashioned and like a print paper/magazine. I did not subscribe to Veg. Times recently (did years ago, but was a bit turned off by some of their one sided views of issues), but I hope other publications don't follow suite.
