Thanks wallycat. I hadn't heard about this yet, and I just checked, and mine is one of them.

Wallycat, Thanks so much for the info. I have one of the food processors in the recall.

Of course the Cuisinart website isn't working to see how to get the replacement blade.

The website will work at some point. I had to try 5 or 6 times ....I have two S blades and hope they read my comments. I remember complaining to them with my first unit in 1997 and they ignored me.

Mine came with 2 blades as well, but I don't use the FP all that much. I finally got the link to work. Thanks again for posting this.

I just found out that mine is affected too! I have to admit that I didn't pay that much attention since my unit is a few years old, but thanks to DD for encouraging me to double-check. I haven't had any issues, but will definitely get a replacement blade. Yuck!

Thanks wallycat! I could have sworn mine was purchased before 1996, but my number was listed. Only use it a few times a year so replacement blade isn't needed immediately.

An interesting article in the New York Times: link
FWIW, I had no problems registering through the Cuisinart website earlier this week.

Interesting story link. Like I posted earlier, I complained in 1997 when my metal cracked. They did nothing and denied responsibility. They have known for quite some time. They should be ashamed of themselves for waiting this long and waiting till people were injured. And that they kept mfg. this blade for this long...I can't imagine I was the only one that started calling in 1997 or earlier (according to that story, some people called in the 80's).

That *is* interesting, Wallycat. I'm glad you didn't get hurt back then. They are sending me a replacement. My current S blade looks so sturdy, I'm surprised to hear all this. I use that blade for pie dough, cookies, bread...but the parts that we use almost daily are the shredders. I bought a Kitchen Aide years ago, had the additional little removable bowl in it, but the parts and the handle to the bowl started breaking. The Cuisinart always had better, stronger, thicker parts that held up over time. So I'm giving them a pass on this one part...but that they never responded to you back then is disappointing. I hope that was a glitch and not the norm. Did yours break apart as described lately?

Mine has 3 out of the 4 with cracks but nothing has fallen apart yet, thankfully. I haven't done super processing of hard things and if I shred partially frozen cheese, I use one of the shredder blades.

The new replacement blade arrived at my house today. Out of curiosity, how long did it take? (and it would've been smart if I'd noted the day I contacted them...)

I posted that they were sending me one on the 16th...and I think that was the day I filled out the online form. So 2 weeks, I guess.

When I filled out the form, on the 13th from my post above, I got an email confirmation. Still no blade, but mine is intact. However, I did get a letter from Costco advising me that my purchase was being recalled. It's good to know that the retailers advise people as well, as long as they have your information of course.

I'm relieved to see that former CL poster Lorilee kept her post re: this recall on her Facebook page, so I was able to trace back the date I registered. Was also the 16th, also online. I'm certain I received a confirmation email afterward, but there's an excellent chance that I accidentally deleted it. Guess I will wait a bit longer before doing any follow up.

I wonder if holidays and various weather related problems might be an issue for some areas of the country.
