If you were let loose in a kitchen/cooking store like Sur La Table or Williams Sonoma for a free shopping spree what would you get? Oh and for those eyeing Le Creuset someone would help you carry it to your car. Ha.
So anything you would like? I thought it would be interesting to see what items people would get, whether big of small -- might get some ideas on things you would actually buy, learn about new kitchen items etc.
This is just supposed to be a fun thread, to see what others would get -- like if you won a game show and had to shop the store. And for some, they might be simply posting their shopping list. : )
I would have to give it some thought, but I don't really need (or want) that much (ok if I had a huge kitchen, I would have a longer list).....
A Le Creuset skillet and maybe one or two more pieces (but would it look weird to store a small dutch oven on my coffee table, just kidding).
A toaster that toasts both sides of the bread and evenly (I've heard that does exist). Maybe the Dualit or Wolf. At least it would look real nice on counter and who knows it might make good toast.
I know I couldn't come out with some little kitchen tools, and those really pretty wooden spoons/tools etc. Impossible to resist. (ok I wouldn't buy the brussel sprout gadget that I saw at SLT, that is taking it too far. Maybe I need to love that veggie more).
Food items like some olive oils, vinegar, and gift basket type of items.
I would think a cookbook or two or five would somehow end up on the counter when checking out.
How practical but I do need a new cutting board. If I had the space, I would toss in a Boos wood board.
Scanpan non-stick skillet.
A new set of silverware.
A new knife or two -- Shun brand or ?
Keep me away from the Emile Henry cookware/dishes. I would easily cave and I don't need any more baking dishes.
Oh and one of those carbon steel pans that I'd love to try and ......

What a great dream that is! I just bought a new electric kettle but if I could get another kettle, I would get the Hanro pour-over for induction. A new coffee maker (technoverm) -sp? even though I do almost 100% French press. Maybe a newer French Press. All new drinking/water glasses. A carbon steel pan (Matfer) All new wooden spoons 32oz container for my vitamix A new espresso machine ipad holder to make reading recipes easier A good water filter...not sure what but I'm sure I could find something :-) .....yes, new flatware would be great too!
OK, that's with only 1/2 cup of coffee in me. I'm sure someone will post something I "need" LOL, LOL, LOL.

What a great question!
Definitely a piece or two of Le Creuset, a great blender, grain mill, knives, replace my old whisks, wooden spoons, and if it was Sur La Table, it would be one of those big honkin roosters they sell to which I almost fell over after looking at the price tag. lol!

A Vitamix A few LeCreuset pieces New drinking glasses A grain mill Off the top of my head those are the things I most want right now. But I would have no troubles filling a cart or two with baskets of unitaskers.

The only thing I know I would get would be a new bowl for my food processor or a new FP A round Le Creuset, Staub, Lodge or similar pot in the right size for bread baking if I could figure out where to put it (same for other bakeware -- my weakness) Might consider a Vitamix or a grain mill but need vs storage issue again. Linen anything.

That's a toughie. I'm hampered by lack of room. I still need an immersion blender, that much I can tell you off the bat. Maybe a new bundt pan-- I still have my mom's awful teflon one from the seventies, which is full of internal scratches-- but then again, how often do I make bundt cakes these days? Would love some little Staub covered casseroles for onion soup and such, just because. Maybe some nifty serving dishes, interesting shapes. ...and my Dansk bistroware is showing its age (although I have another set of dishes). I could be persuaded to buy new everyday dishes (OK. I'm like Imelda Marcos with dishes. WAY too many already. No room. But, I REALLY like dishes...) Let me wander around. I'll find stuff.

Fun to read what others would get, thanks everyone for posting. And, I would add a few things to my list after seeing your posts. No surprise there.
I see a few mentioned grain mills. Just curious, what would you use it for? I'm thinking it you can use it turn oats into oat flour and other grains. This city girl doesn't have a clue on what to do with it, where to get grains etc. And the advantages etc. But this is someone that the closest I've come to baking bread was defrosting a boxed bread, letting it rise and bake (sketchy on details, I was a kid when I did that). And, yes I googled it to see what it looked like.
Thanks all

I have a local store that started carrying wheat berries specifically for this purpose. I bake our bread as much as I can, and I would love to be able to say I made the flour that went into it.

I try to stay away from WS wink. Years ago I bought some of their copper pots and pans, a 2-quart souffle dish with lid, and quiche pan/dish, among other tools, that's given me lots of mileage over the years. I like their store in the Beverly Center in Los Angeles. The store closest to me is quite a bit smaller, but still hard to resist. There are a few high-end items that I would like, but don't have the space. I would probably pick up the chocolate aebleskiver mix, if they still carry it. It's hard to justify paying $10 for pancake mix. There are a few things that I bump into that I would like to try. WS has a nice Gourmet section on their site that interest me. Also bumped into some Meyer lemon Evoo on Amazon that's calling my name. I found a few vintage tea towels I love that are too pretty to use, so I just display them. Wish there was an Eataly close by. For now though, I think I'm good.
