Hi, I would like to buy a food mill and started looking at them. The OXO Food Mill is the one I am leaning towards and wondered if anyone has it or the Cuisinart?
Thank you for you help. Carrie

No, I don't, but I'm curious: why do you want a food mill? What are they good for, vs. other things such as mixer, food processor, even a masher? Thanks! (I tried a food mill and ended up never using it.)
FWIW, I bet Oxo would be great. A food mill is so low-tech that I don't see breaking the bank on one, & Oxo's a good brand.

Actually I want one for applesauce. I had one years and years ago when I canned a lot but I got to thinking I wonder where it was? We have moved so many times I could of donated it. Plus having arthur in my hands, I thought maybe it would be easier. Think I will do some more researching...thanks! PS Plus I love gadgets. lol!

I found something from CI which offers a bit of insight: Click hereAlthough I don't have an OXO or Cuisinart (I have a Moulinex cheapie which looks like the top rated one in the link) I haven't purchased anything from OXO which I hated (so far.) I use mine for mashed potatoes and making sauces. The plastic has suffered some staining from tomatoes and the disks aren't the best quality in the model I have, but it works fine and I can't complain about the cost.

Hi Gail, Thank you so much for the information. With my DH surgery, I haven't had time to sit down and do further research. After reading that I think I will try and find the RSVP one. I don't want a seed problem or a turning issue. Thank you again for your help. Carrie

I'm pretty sure mine is Oxo and I really like it. I've only used it a handful of times (soups?) but it's great.

We had one like the first one but replaced it when the plates got rusty. The plastic portion had tomato stains like Gail's but it worked fine and didn't transfer any flavors or odors. We replaced it with an all metal one. The name on the handle is Martha Stewart, but it doesn't look like they are still sold. We settled on that one after trying several different brands in a number of stores -- even an All-Clad at WS (doesn't look like that one is still sold either). If you can, try to check them out in person and look for something that can be assembled and taken apart easily, turns smoothly when assembled and will sit steadily on the bowl, pot or whatever you will likely use it on top of.
