We had the Virtual Running Buddies on the other boards for years. While I wasn't as frequent a participant in recent years, I always enjoyed seeing what others were up to. Anyone want to restore a thread like that here? gobluem82, Vicci, anyone else? Doesn't matter a bit if you are slow, fast, or in between! The more the merrier. I've been enjoying some good runs this fall, though it's hard to run as regularly as before. This is my favourite time of year to run outdoors Hope to see some of you here! Natasha

Sure, count me in! I'm still running. My husband and I completed a half-marathon in June, and I've been averaging around 15 miles a week since then. I haven't been doing as much biking as I thought I'd do, although I've been doing some spinning classes since the weather here this week hasn't been conducive to running or tennis (my other favorite outdoor activity). You're right, though, that the cooler temperatures are perfect for running! I'll try to post once or twice a week.

*sigh* I would absolutely LOVE to be able to run again! I had plantar fasciitis in one foot in the spring of 2014, then developed it in the other foot that fall, and when I finally decided to run again last fall (everything felt good again) I had issues with my left knee, then my back... I was SO depressed that I abandoned the VRB because I couldn't stand to hear about everyone else running! In any case, DH and I go out on our bikes now, but not as often as we'd like (my back reacts negatively to the bouncing, I think). I've begun playing... pickleball... If you're unfamiliar, google it. I liken it to playing pingpong, but on a court instead of a table. And it has some very unique rules, and odd scoring. But I play 2 times a week and I really like it (me, the one who hasn't played a competitive sport since hs gym class!). So that's my activity of choice for now, but I will chime in occasionally with biking info. And I am prepared to be jealous of your running adventures. I really miss the "freedom" (lack of a better word) of it! Nice to see you both posting! Ahhh, for the good ol' days!

So do we have enough of a quorum to try to start an ongoing thread? If so, I assume it makes sense to have it in the nutrition, diet, and fitness section. So far this week I've run twice (3 and 6 miles), played tennis, and biked 15 miles--the weather has been gorgeous! Tomorrow will be another tennis day.

Do you remember they heyday of the VRB threads? Every week there were numerous posts... then it just flailed and slowed to a crawl. This week I played pickleball once (another scheduled for tomorrow), and kayaked for 2 hours. Not running but something!!!

We went on a 4 mile hike through the forest yesterday, foraging for Chanterelle 'shrooms. LOVE being in there. The smells are intoxicating! We had horribly gusty winds last night, so we will take our regular 2+ mile walk around the community to see what damage occurred. Only lost power for 2 hours, thankfully. My posts will rarely be exciting...yoga, walking. I no longer run. Used to do 15 mile days and my knees have paid me back, unkindly. DH wants to start biking through some of the trails here, so who knows though.
