New to me: THE SAVORY BAKER (AMERICA'S TEST KITCHEN) -- OMG GOT EBOOK FROM LIBRARY. STARTED SALIVATING AND COPYING RECIPES OUT OF THE EBOOK. EBOOK IS HARD TO READ BECAUSE PHOTOS ARE UNDERNEATH THE TEXT, IN MANY OF THE PAGES. SOOO...SWEET HUSBAND WENT WAY OUT OF HIS WAY TO GO TO LIBRARY AND GET ME A HARD COPY. (I would have bought, but wanted first to SEE because last book of theirs I had hard time viewing due to small font and lightly colored text.) HAPPILY, the book, yes, has small font, but the photos are separate so we can see the text better than in the ebook and, at this point having just rec'd it, I do think at least that the font is BLACK. The reviews at Amazon sound great. Several folks have tried and liked some of the recipes. DROOOOOOL. I will share some titles here and a link to the book at Amazon. Here is one that calls to me, but it does use really only a tiny amount of dried porcini mushrooms and a 5 teaspoons of truffle oil...but still, it grabs me: Porcini and Truffle Crescent Rolls Mini Cheese Crackers - that look like Cheeze-Its I will come back with more titles... Here is link to book...it's a nice fat book, too. Nice photos. OH LOVE. www.amazon.com/Savory-Baker-Creative-Recipes-Classic-ebook/dp/B099ZBX94P/ref=tmm_kin_swatch_0 --- this is to the kindle version, it's the one that lets you view inside the book. clicking on the hardcover link did not. SO, my question for this thread is: HOW 'BOUT IT? EVER HAD ANY LUCK WITH AMERICA'S TEST KITCHEN RECIPES? HAVE YOU SEEN THIS (ABOVE) BOOK YET? DO YOU FEEL LIKE BAKING?? I DO. I AM EVEN EYEING MY BREAD MACHINE (ZORICHI, USED ONCE 10 OR SO YEARS AGO.) BTW: WE DID GET OUT THE NEW/USED PHILLIPS PASTA MACHINE AND USED TWO (ATK, I THINK) RECIPES TO MAKE PASTA (TOO THICK FOR ME) AND PHILLIPS COOKIE RECIPE (YUCK). Off to get you more titles. Perhaps even a sample recipe or two. Catbatty

My favorite recipes to try come from America's Test Kitchen, Cook's Country, or Cook's Illustrated. They are so reliable. I've mostly given up with internet recipes even if they come with 5 stars and great recommendations - too many less than worth it results for the expense of ingredients, time wasted, and calories! My library doesn't have it and I really don't need another cookbook, but this is so tempting. I may have to give myself a present.
