Maybe I should have posted in the Pantry thread? I dunno. I may move it. But anyway: WHAT WOULD *YOU* DO WITH THIS? No clue why I bought them, but I bought THREE packages!! Must have been an order online via Amazon's grocery service? (I would NOT have bought them...heck...we have an INSTANT POT, for goodness sake! Well.... I *would* have bought some of those ready made mashed potatoes...but Bob Evan's brand is SO darned good. I think I thought I was buying something like those... WHAT IS IT? IDAHOAN Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes -- you know, those powdered potatoes in packets? Besides donating them to a service or mailing them to an old friend states away that LIKES those kinds of packets...what might I be able to merge them into? Course, we have mostly vegetarian diet so I can't plop them into meatloaf. (I do miss my meatloaf.) What would you make with them?? Or would you? Thanks.

I use potato flakes to thicken stews and soups, as breading on fish fillets, in some bread recipes. Three packages is a lot. I buy Bob's Red Mill Potato Flakes and a bag lasts a long time. Might make sense to keep one bag and donate the others to a food pantry.

Thanks Patti!! Good idea: use as a thickener!! I am thinking of a cauliflower soup that I like to make...or heck, even a POTATO soup!! Thanks again.

If you make bread they can be added in…it makes bread a little fluffier and can help keep fresh longer…

I was going to list those already mentioned. If you like meatloaf, there must be a vegetarian bean-burger loaf of some sort that you can add it to?
Or you could just use it as intended, a side of mashed potatoes!

I buy the plain ones specifically for a bread recipe -- one packet makes 2 batches of dinner rolls. I also use them in soups, butI've never tried the garlic. It is soups season, so hopefully you are finding uses for them.

I don't eat potatoes often. when I need potato I use Idahoan. I'm not a purist. I also use them as camper food when we are traveling, and as backpacking food. If I over dilute potato soup, adding some potato flakes will thicken it up. I use them as a potato topping for shepherds pie. I agree they arent as good as home made but convenience has its benefits.
