We currently have a GE toaster and it's lasted several years but the cord gets hot when we use the two right slots so time to get a new one. We don't keep it on the counter so it doesn't have to be a beauty - just want something that toasts nicely. It can be either two slot or four slot. Any recommendations? I saw on "Best Reviews" that they recommended a Cuisinart 4-slot toaster but it got some really bad reviews on Amazon. Thanks.

I think ATK reviewed them and the cheapest proctor silex won. We aren't heavy duty users, but it has served us well. It is also very light, so moving it is easy.

Wallycat, your reply sounded familiar so I did a search and in 2018 I posted the same question and you posted the same reply . We still have the same toaster we had in 2018 but this time, we’re really getting a new one.

I tend to ignore the reviews on Amazon. I don't trust them and you are always going to find someone who is unhappy. I know it is hard not to let those reviews play mind games with you but I have always had good luck with the products I have bought through Amazon in spite of the reviews, good or bad. I have also had bad luck with some of the things that I have bought based on ATK reviews. so it is a tough call. I would just make sure whatever you get is returnable which is my basic approach these days. I can't recommend a toaster for you....sorry! I have a Breville countertop oven which I love but sounds like you're looking for a slot toaster. GOOD LUCK!

I thought I remembered a similar post, but I guess it speaks to the proctor silex still working, LOL. I totally agree, Karen. There are always good lines that occasionally produce a lemon and people post about the bad stuff more often. I also have had bad luck with several ATK recommendations but for a cheap toaster, we "risked it."

I have been using a Breville toaster for years. I think it might have been a discussion back on CLBB about toasters and the challenge to get even toasting that got me to take a photo of a slice of toast. I had it on my phone when we were in Sur la Table waiting for someone to help us with a demo on an espresso machine. Another couple was looking for a toaster and considering one like ours, but they were asking the salesperson if they knew if any of them actually toasted evenly. I told them about our discussion about toasters and found the photo to show them. They bought the toaster and the saleslady gave us her employee discount on the espresso maker. So I really like my Breville toaster. It's like this one... but older. www.williams-sonoma.com/m/products/breville-bit-more-4-slice-toaster/

We have Breville toaster oven (or whatever they call it) for perhaps 5 years, and last year bought a Breville toaster. www.amazon.com/Breville-BTA630XL-Toaster-Slice-Touch/dp/B00GZ8P7D6/ref=sr_1_1No problems ever with either of them. Neither are space savers however. I think I do trust the brand now. Seem solid. Toaster Specs: 6 3/4” width x 14 3/4” length x 8” high; 6 lb. 3 oz: 1600W -- I don't know what I was thinking regarding the length of this beauty. Probably didn't realize OR couldn't find the wanted features anywhere else...or both. Plus, hey, it's white. Clean looking...prolly got to me mostly...
