One of my very favorite threads for many years on the CLBB was always when the first Holiday mags would come out, and I would be off scouring book stores, grocery store checkout lanes, etc. for any new ones that would appear! I would always watch for who would post the first one and then it would start! Anyone spot any good ones this year? ~Gail

I always loved those holiday magazine threads, too, but my budget didn't! I have been seeing holiday baking magazines for several weeks in various places. I can't go there yet cause it's still near 90 here. I did get the Oct/Nov Cook's Country which has some Thanksgiving type recipes. Let's have a few days of fall first!! (Dashed into the garden entrance of our local Walmart yesterday to get cat food for the stray kitties. Last week they had aisles and aisles of big plastic storage bins. Yesterday they had aisles of Christmas decorations on the same shelves and about 20 Christmas trees lit up on display!)

I have BHG Christmas Oookies and the Pumpkin ones. I saw a different Fall Baking that I was considering. I will have to take another look -- if I find it again.

For years, we didn't have a coffee table. Then one day I noticed a wicker chest I really liked, so we had a glass top made for it and it now serves the function of being a coffee table. It also holds my stash of holiday magazines-- or anyway, the ones I've been utterly unable to let go of. Some magazines got bought on a whim; I was in that frame of mind, it was a magazine I like and the cover photo looked inviting. Years later, I'd go back, thumb through the pages and fling it over my shoulder. Those, obviously are gone. But then there are those really old issues of Bon Appétit-- the ones which contain absolute treasures. You could probably string me up and flog me and I'd be pleading, no, no, don't take that issue away from me! I'll be honest and say that these days that stack of magazines in the coffee table-- and the non-holiday ones I keep out in the open beside my desk (mostly Saveur) -- not to mention the cache of CI in the bookcase, and the stash of CLs beside them and oh, the ones underneath the bookcase in the den, and you see where this is going.... well, all of those have precluded me from reaching out my hand at the newstand the past year or two. Room is becoming tight. And there are all those BOOKS which keep jumping into the bookcases... I guess I should be thankful I don't buy National Geographic.

I can't toss out ANY holiday magazine. LOVE THE COVERS, BTW. They thrill me. LOL Luckily, I have a friend (fellow MC user) who does many of the them up (mostly BH&G ones) in MC and shares with me. So, I have a good collection of them all typed-up, too.

Minimalist here. Short on storage space. One of the few magazines I still hold on to is CL from December 2005. Beautiful cookies on the cover and some of my favorite recipes inside.

I have a Better Homes and Gardens from when I was in high school (might have been middle school?). It has the divinity recipe my mom and I made for my dad, rolled into balls and dipped in dark chocolate, complete with some stains on the pages. The magazine was still in that large page format and the cover has a wee one holding a holiday package. I will always find room for that one.
