I like to drink plain seltzer, but not a fan of the plastic waste and the room bottles take up in my kitchen.
Anyone have a sodastream? which one? reviews?
The downside of one of these gadgets, is I like a clutter free kitchen. Hmm.
Thanks.

I have Soda Streams--one at home and one at the office. Both are older models, I've had them several years, and I LOVE them. Like you, I drink plain seltzer and can't begin to guess how much money it's saved me. My one problem was that places near me stopped carrying the refill cartridges, but now that there's a mail order/mail in empty option through SodaStream directly, it's been a breeze. The one I have, the footprint isn't very big, but it is pretty tall. I think it's absolutely worth hte counterspace though.

We've had a SodaStream Fizzi for years. I bought it because I was tired of hauling heavy bottles of seltzer home from the grocery store. Also, not using all the plastic bottles is an incentive. SodaStream makes electric models, but I don't see any need for that. The Fizzi doesn't take up a lot of space and you can put it wherever you want to because it doesn't need electricity. We are on our second machine. It gets used multiple times every day. When we got the first one, I was the fizzy water drinker. I don't use it very much, but my husband drinks only fizzy water. We do plain fizzy water. If I want a little flavor, I add a squeeze of citrus in my glass. The bottles are BPA free, but I wish they had a 1 liter glass bottle for the Fizzi. Our first one lasted about 8 years. This one is a few years old. If I were buying today, I'd get the new Terra model. The quick connect thing looks a lot easier than screwing the CO2 cylinder. I exchange cylinders at Staples. I had to do mail order for most of the past 2 years because stores were not doing exchanges. I now have 4 cylinders because they were hard to get for a while, but recommend you have 2, We always have one full cylinder. I have two bottles, but we only use one. We fill and refrigerate it when we empty it so it is always ready when we want to use it.

Thanks so much you two for the feedback and good reviews! It definitely would be convenient and love the idea of not buying all that plastic.
I'm now thinking of buying one. All the different models made it hard to figure out which might be best, so I so appreciate the info.

I will add one thing, and that is believe them when they say you should only carbonate plain water, and add flavoring after. Soon after we got our first one, my husband was musing about how various things would be carbonated. "I bet carbonated cranberry juice would be delicious!" said he, "I don't see why that wouldn't work." I was in the living room, and here's what I hear coming from the kitchen:
"Yeah, I don't see why this wouldn't work. Let's see." Fizz-fizz--FFFFIIIZZZZZZZZ "Bad idea! Bad idea!!"
I rushed in to find him completely drenched, the whole thing sort of exploded into bubbles all over him, the counter, the entire kitchen. You can still see faint pink spots on our kitchen ceiling.
