Anybody here ever play video games on computers or ?
I would love to find some good PC games. It's been years. I tired of the Find the Hidden types of games. I *used* to be a lover of first-person shooter games like those made by Sierra (also a maker of Mastercook). Sierra had the BEST stuff. My favorite was Gunman. We played alone on our PC's *or* online. It was like stepping into another world. The graphics and sounds were closeup and life-like.
(That was a 'mod' of Half-Life, by Sierra and most of the games I liked were also mods of same.) Back in the days when original Quake was out, my husband and I had such fun sharing the game, sharing screen and mouse. Investigating every 'room' and level.
I tried Thief and like it...but oh boy it was awfully real and scary. There was a great and free game, group play, called Svens something, I forget. But I heard from friends that it became so advanced that it became hard to play even for the old hands at gaming.
I bought x1 box about 10 years ago...and tried one game that everybody raved about...but the first part was boring and I gave up. (EVERYBODY said you have to get far enough in before it becomes reallllly great.)
What I want in a game: I have found that what I like best isn't the shooting, it's the adventure and mostly the looking around a great other rooms and worlds. It feels to me like a male-dominated world, computer-wize, and more interest in weapons and fighting than in the awesome experience of being in an imaginary world. (Yes, I did try the original Alice in Wonderland...but when I got to the big jumps required, I gave up. My shoulder / arm / wrist are all out-of-order for major jumping anymore.)
Has anyone found an online game that holds your interest or is fun? Do you use Steam to get online? (Steam became the way to enter games about 15 years ago. I haven't tried it again in years.)
Any favorite ways to game, like game boxes...? Has xbox improved greatly? Is the ONLY way to mouse around in one of those a handheld thing...that kind that's been around forever or have they improved on those, too?
Just thought it might be interesting to see if any of you have tried...
