I'm a member of a recipe sharing mailing list group. One of the members discovered something recently: The same exact recipe in a BH&G mag shows up in a Fine Cooking mag (both recent issues, I believe he said).
He went looking to see if he could find other instances of duplication between the two magazines, and sure enough, he found another.
He wasn't too pleased. Why bother subscribing to the latter if the same recipes are in his BHG subscription, he asked. Someone else, in that same mailing list group, mentioned that they are both owned by same outfit.
I am thinking that this must be a new thing...perhaps since Fine Cooking was sold a coupla years ago. ?? Anyway, shame on them if this is true...and I know the fella who brought this all up pretty well and consider him a trustworthy source...so I believe what he posted (and discovered) is true. (He even gave names of the recipes and as I recall, posted them, too.)

Interesting. Kind of like eating well and allrecipes are owned by the same company. I'm sure there are duplicates online.....but I'm not paying a subscription cost.

Thanks for the heads up! Have been subscribing to Fine Cooking to support one grandkid's school. Perfect timing as she's soon moving to next level.

Ya, I guess Meredith now owns lots and lots of mags, even Martha's! Adding: perhaps we should support them and be really grateful to them -- perhaps the magazine world hasn't been all that profitable and Meredith bought them out. (Sounds' like to me.) And without Meredith there might be way way fewer magazine choice available to us? That would be awful.
