I made Toll House cookies on Saturday and they are a bit of a disappointment. Flavor wise they're good but they're a little too soft and puffy in the center for me. I don't make cookies often but this is my go-to chocolate chip cookie recipe. I'm just wondering what I could have done wrong this time as I don't recall them being so soft in the center before. I tried baking the last dozen a little longer but they turned out the same but were close to being burned. Any ideas? Could I have over beat them?? Maybe I added a little too much flour??

I would guess at overbeating was the problem. This happened to me recently, I was busy and let the butter and sugar mix for longer than I should have and the peanut butter cookies that I was making were puffy in the center.
