My after lunch activity was going through my spices. I don't have many so it took just a few minutes. Has anyone else done this recently?
I have a few that I use often .... cumin, garlic powder, chili powder, Italian seasoning red pepper flake, Penzeys Florida Seasoned Pepper, TJ's Everything But the Bagel Seasoning, smoked paprika, cinnamon etc. And a few spices that are at best used a few times a year. And some that I haven't used in I'm thinking years (ground ginger, tumeric etc). Just tossed out the very old dry mustard and jar into recycling (I don't remember why I bought/or when I used it). ETA; I've been using Penzeys Arizona Dreaming. I just used to today when making rice and beans.
I have a few Penzey blends that I received in a gift and some I don't really use. Anyone use these and what's your favorite way to use it....Ozark, Galena Street, Fox Point, Salsa & Pico, The New Curry. it could be time to change things up.
Thx.

I did this before we moved, tossed everything that was old or didn't smell like it's supposed to. I buy most of my spices from Penzeys, and have one only 20 minutes away (although it is closed now) so will start restocking soon. I use Fox Point a lot, mostly for seasoning vegetables and it's also good in scrambled eggs and omelets. I use Salsa and Pico to *bump up* the fresh salsa that I buy in the store (off season). Galena Street is used as a rub on ribs and other pork when I slow cook them. Actually, on line somewhere is a recipe for cocoa-cola slow cooker pork ribs that is wonderful. I rub the pork with Galena Street and use diet root bear or Dr Pepper instead of the cola as the liquid to cook them in. Wonderful flavor!

Gosh, I have SOOOOOOOO many spices and I should really toss 3/4ths of it since I know they are old. I keep buying new and forgetting to check my back-ups. My fav Penzey's spices are Ozark, Pork chop blend and Sunny Paris. I miss having them close by. Galena street....aaah, the memories..that was the street my grade school was on.

I use Ozark as a rub before grilling, pork chops mainly though I think I've used it on chicken thighs as well. (my favorite on pork is Tsardust Memories) I use the Fox Point in everything---eggs, vegetables, and always in egg salad and tuna salad.

I have way too many spices but I have fun using them!!! I love Penzey's Fox Point. Great on vegetables, eggs, lighter (non tomato) soups etc.... I also use salsa & pico and The new curry. I actually like their New Curry better than their sweet or hot curry. A dash in chicken soup is really good....not enough to give it a pronounced curry flavor but adds really great depth and warmth. Aside from those blends, their mural of flavor is excellent especially on popcorn but just about anything. It is very versatile and no salt added. Another I use a lot is their Tuscan seasoning (an Italian no salt seasoning) and pizza seasoning. I have also shopped at savory spice and spice house. They have really nice products as well.

We use Fox Point a lot on everything, but especially chicken and fish. I like the New Curry but haven't done much with it yet. My curry recipes do not use a powder like that. I'm thinking of trying it in a chicken salad with almonds and golden raisins.

FWIW, my mom used to make a very simply dip for veggie platters using mayo & curry powder. (now I'd probably do a mix of mayo & greek yogurt) It is *especially* delicious on cold boiled artichokes.
