I just learned and tested a new (to me) cooking tip, that works - If thawing a frozen *something*, set it on an aluminum or stainless steel, pan or tray. These metals absorb ambient heat and transfer it to the food - speeding thawing. There are even special defrosting boards sold made from them. I may be "the last to know", but I am grateful that I do know now!

Even faster: put it in a metal pan or pot & cover it with water.
