Since it is December, I'll start this thread off by seeing what I remember from the past month. A lot of candy making for my business and not so much cooking was done but I had a few standouts from Thanksgiving etc...

Ooof, still recovering from the holiday weekend! Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving.
Make Again
11/27 Paleo Spiced Nuts (realsimplegood.com) Really good and easy!
11/6 Pork Chops Smothered with Peppers and Onions (Rachael Ray) Reminded me of cacciatore at Cafe 422. Good—use more paste to make more sauce-like?
11/1 Mini Apple Pies (Family Circle 12/12) Made in canning jars—didn’t like that (how do you put the crust on!?!), but liked filling. Ingredients were cooked and then poured over apples. Delicious, perfect apple pie filling!
Good
11/28 Butterscotch Pie with Pecan-Shortbread Crust (MSL 11/19) Good—I always think a little too much crust in tarts, but very nice pudding with salt and pecan and sugared nuts.
11/25 Porchetta-Style Roast Turkey Breast (BA 11/15) This was excellent, but a fluke because there is no weight on the turkey. Makes it more guideline than recipe. Still, moist and delicious, even without gravy.
11/25 Spiced-Apple Cranberry Sauce (CL 11/16) Good, but next time I would make it with double cider and no vinegar.
11/19 Stir-Fried Shrimp and Broccoli (CI 5/17) This was good, but not something I need to repeat.
11/19 Cinnamon Mocha Cupcakes [vegan] (Dash Recipes 4/13) Cake was really good. Frosting left a lot to be desired. Together they were good.
11/17 Eggplant & Porcini “Meatballs” in Tomato Sauce (F&W 8/13) Tasty—mostly of eggplant, not mushrooms. Wanted texture to be a little firmer—reduce liquid? Would definitely make these again if I needed a veggie meatball.
11/17 Caramel Apple Poke Cake (BH&G 10/19) Good. Used a jar of salted caramel. Didn’t truly seep into holes—needed to make bigger? But cake did absorb sauce.
OK
11/22 Vegan Fruit and Jam Bars (ATK) Too crumbly, too coconuty.

A quiet month new recipe wise - we were in New Orleans/Covington, LA for a week, then Thanksgiving we were hit with two snowstorms that left us digging out from 24" of snow. Just finished cleaning our driveway an hour ago, the borrowed snowblower gets returned tomorrow. Yeah...the intensity of this storm caught us (and everyone else in Duluth/Superior) by surprise, we were a bit unprepared. So recipes have been on the simple side for November. I'd make all of these again: Jambalaya Kevin Belton's New Orleans Cookbook New Mexican Red Pork Chili ATK Slow Cook Revolution (slow cooker) Mushroom and Tofu Stirfry Eating Well Dec 2019 Salmon with spicy cranberry sauce Eating Well Dec 2019 Scallion-Salmon Dip Eating Well Dec 2019 Instant pot chicken broth Damn Delicious modified greatly, no aromatics (might need for upset puppy tummies) Most recipes and full reviews can be found at Scifi With a Dash of Paprika (N adverts! Just pure blogging.)
