Hi, I've recently purchased an Instant Pot and I'm trying out some basic recipes such as baked potatoes.
It's taking around 29 minutes to cook 2 medium sized spuds. I've tried 15 and 20 minute settings but the middle of the potatoes cones out raw.
It shouldn't 28 minutes to cook 2 medium sized potatoes, surely? Am I doing something wrong or is my IP faulty? By the way, I'm using the measuring cup that comes with the IP - I use three cups of water. I live in the UK but apparently the US measurement of a cup of water is different.
Thanks in advance...

Welcome to the group, Yaz!! I think our US measurements match the UK's. (Isn't it only Australia and maybe NZ that are just a wee different, but not by much? Somebody here will know...Hang in there.) Anyway, your bakers sound way off to me. I've done thin skinned potatoes and they took less than 10 minutes. Let's see what others have to say. Again, welcome. It's great to meet you!

Hi Cat thanks for the welcome I do hope it's something wrong with the way I'm making the spuds and not the IP itself:-/

Ok so I made some salmon with corn on the cob and baked potatoes - this time I cut slits into the potatoes and it was all good in 15 mins...

Aha! That's good. Thanks much for letting us know! Did you do the corn in the IP? Reason I ask: we did corn on the cob this past season in the IP and it's so easy and so perfect that we will never go back to boiling them in water. I put the potatoes, salmon and corn in together for 15 minutes and everything came out just right. I wrapped the salmon in foil with dill and French butter. It was very nice. I don't usually eat fish because it smells fishy

Worth mentioning I went from around two and a half cups of water (which is what I used to do just for the potatoes) to one and a half cups for the potatoes, salmon and corn.

I’m new to the Instant Pot - just got one from Amazon - so curious how you did the dish. Did you put it all on the metal rack and then water in the bottom? So far I’ve only done a couple of chicken breasts and they were fine for using in soup but nothing I would have been excited to eat on their own as a main dish.

Hi - I added one and a half cups of water, used the grill/tray accessory and put the potatoes and corn on it. I wrapped the salmon (with some butter and dill) in foil and put that on the grill/tray thing as well.
I used the pressure cooker (manual) setting and cooked for 15 minutes. The keep warm setting is on by default so after 15 mins I let the pressure release for a few minutes then did a manual vent. It all came out very nicely. Hope that helps.
