Devoured in record time! Let me set the scene. A bunch of people got together, and someone brought a few snacks. She made a cannoli dip (I guess you would call it a deconstructed cannoli, she said was a huge time saver -- she didn't want to spend time filling cannoli shells, plus finding shells etc). I've never heard of a cannoli dip before. So on the table, two bowls of cannoli dip and some things to dip with (I think graham crackers, something that looked like cannoli chips etc). One bowl had the traditional flavor, the other a chocolate almond flavor. I had to step out and take a phone call. I came back and there were a few grapes, two crackers, and a bit of dip. If that is any indication. I asked my friend and she found it on Laurainthekitchen on youtube. Here's the recipe. www.laurainthekitchen.com/recipes/cannoli-dip-2-ways/Just thought I would post for anyone that likes a cannoli, and would want to try a simpler tweak on it.

Thanks for this. I find it really interesting. I would say that I don't usually go for sweet appetizers, but then I had the caramel apple dip from CL and, well, maybe I like some of them! This might also be a fun end to an Italian meal. Head back into the living room with this and some coffee or a digestif.

erin -- I like your idea of having it at the end of an Italian dinner (or any dinner for that matter). It is just a different twist (and easier too) than a cannoli. It could be good when someone wants to make an easy dessert, but doesn't have to deal with lots left over, like if they made a cake. I'm all for pastries etc, but I've only had cannolis less than a handful of times. Just not a thing I would gravitate to, but wouldn't turn it down either. I think because a good cannoli is really good, and a bad one is, just not worth it.
