I'm slogging my way into a 2nd week of either a nasty cold or a mild flu and thought it might be nice to compile a list of everyone's go to recipes and recommendations for others fighting winter illnesses.
Here's my list:
✔ elderberry syrup ✔ elderflower tea ✔ Manuka honey-lemon tea ✔ Australian cold and flu tea (contains echinacea, fenugreek, anise hyssop, and more) ✔ chicken soup (in all forms) ✔ spicy foods and foods with onion and garlic ✔ extra citrus, ginger, and turmeric ✔ zinc lozenges ✔ Gypsy cold cure tea ✔ immunity essential oil (cinnamon, eucalyptus, etc.) ✔ dog cuddles
What's your go-to tricks for getting back on your feet and feeling better?

Great idea for a post. Sorry you aren't feeling well. This Ginger-Scallion Root tea is my secret weapon. I just leave the stuff in a pot on the stove and add water and simmer as I want more. www.splendidtable.org/recipes/ginger-scallion-root-teaI also use elderberry. I take a daily elderberry supplement, and add in Sambucol tablets as soon as I feel punky and that often does the trick. Just about any hot tea with half a packet of EmerGenc-C. I keep a Breathe Right and Throat Comfort Tea on hand too and mix them with the EmerGen-C.

Hope you feel better soon!! The rule is feed a fever; starve a cold----if you buy into that.
My go to is a whiskey or brandy!
Chicken soup is Jewish Penicillin, so that's always worth trying. If you want a supplement, you could try: NAC N-Acetyl Cysteine which stops the viral cycle.

Sorry about your illness, and I hope that you're improving. I would recommend coconut oil, which has a lot of antiviral and antibacterial properties. Here's an article that explains more: fussybody.com/coconut-oil-for-flu/A few other important things: * vitamin D (make sure it's D3, not D2) * cod-liver oil * yogurt, or some other kind of probiotic Also, I'm sure you already know this, but try to stay well hydrated as well.
